A Case Study on Play therapy for Socially Withdrawn Child with Mild mental retardation

Abstract
A 10-year-old girl with mild mental retardation was presented with withdrawn behavior in socall wellfare institute. She often experienced of being battered by peer group in the neighborhood. She was so fearful of interaction with people outside that she hid herself behind stairs whenever she encounter people. We had perfomed play therapy during 28 sessions for 8 months. Throughout therapy Procedure, she expressed oppressed feelings related with peers, teachers, and family including her desires. She trusted in therapist. We sometimes gave verbal reinforcements when social-approach behavior occurred. In the end, actually, she showed social behavior, then therefore, made friends in the neighborhood and social welfare institute. Hay therapy in this case was effective for withdrawn behavior of chi d with mild mental retardation.
